Job summary

Ashton North LLC in Waterloo, IA, is seeking an Assembly/Machine Builder to construct custom machines from drawings. You will rely on prints, sketches or verbal instructions, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and staying organized in a low-volume shop.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year in manufacturing or mechanical work, excellent mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and basic knowledge of hydraulics and 12V wiring; forklift experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 1+ year of manufacturing or mechanical work experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Understanding of hydraulic components and functionality.
• Basic understanding of 12V wiring.
• Ability to use wrenches, air tools, overhead cranes, steel handling; frequent lifting.
• Forklift experience or ability to train on operation.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Must read, write and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Build custom, made-to-order machines per drawing specifications.
• Work from prints, sketches or verbal instructions.
• Maintain safety in all operations and keep area clean and organized.
• Complete machine from start to finish in a low-volume environment.
• Operate within a first shift schedule and adhere to experience-based pay.
