City of Killeen is seeking a dedicated full-time non-exempt jailer to perform routine and specialized public safety duties in caring for detainees at the holding facility.

Your responsibilities include booking, searching, and releasing prisoners; maintaining security across the holding facility; supervising meals and visitation; and responding to incidents with sound judgment and safe restraint when required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within 60 days.
• Background investigation required.
• Defensive tactics training and refresher training required.
• Must work assigned shifts including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Bondable.

Responsabilités

• Booking, searching, and releasing prisoners.
• Maintaining security in all areas of the holding facility.
• Administering and supervising mealtime and visitation.
• Working assigned shifts with judgement for emergencies.
• Responding to incidents and disturbances among prisoners.
• Physically restraining unruly prisoners when necessary.
• Maintaining logs of prisoner activities and meals.
• Performing maintenance like sweeping and cleaning.
• Answering questions from bondsmen, lawyers, family members and courts.
• Safekeeping of prisoner property and issuing receipts.
• Receiving payments and issuing receipts for bonds.
• Photographing and scanning prisoner fingerprints.
