Job summary

Washburn County's jail is seeking a Jailer to perform inmate processing, maintain jail order, and escort inmates throughout the facility. This role involves security checks, documentation, and providing courteous service while upholding county policies.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; strong observation, communication, and teamwork skills are essential, as is the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate standard jail equipment. Excellent benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Some clerical experience, preferably including work as a guard and completion of a standard high school course.
• Related law enforcement, criminology or corrections training preferred.
• Valid Wisconsin driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Maintain jail security and order; process inmates and escort them as needed.
• Perform security checks, intake/release, meals, and property care.
• Complete written documentation and reports; collect bonds as required.
• Operate radios, computers, and office equipment; provide courteous service.
• Remain alert and respond calmly in emergencies; work as part of a team.
