Sanctuary Personnel in Lancaster, UK is seeking a Healthcare Professional (Band 5 Nurse or Paramedic) to join our custody contracts and deliver autonomous care under Patient Group Directives. This full-time role offers development opportunities and a chance to make a meaningful difference in detainee care.

You will respond to calls, perform clinical assessments, manage minor illnesses, and conduct forensic examinations while maintaining comprehensive clinical records.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Adult) or Paramedic with 2+ years qualified experience (3 years depending on contract).
• NMC or HCPC registration.
• Proficiency in venipuncture.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls as directed by the call centre.
• Conduct clinical assessments and deliver high standards of care for detainees, determining fitness for detention, interview, release, or transfer.
• Manage minor illnesses or injuries and make appropriate referrals for more serious conditions.
• Undertake forensic examinations, document injuries, and collect DNA evidence as required.
• Examine police officers or staff injured on duty, managing their care appropriately.
• Collect specimens as outlined by legislation.
• Operate within the Police and Criminal Evidence Act Code C.
• Provide written statements within 7-10 days of request and testify in Court or Tribunal as needed.
• Maintain accurate and complete clinical records, accessible to the company always.
• Evaluate alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
• Perform Mental Health and Learning Disability assessments where applicable.
• Collaborate with the Clinical Lead and Head of Clinical Operations to enhance medical services.
• Fulfill duties as a Forensic Clinician in custody, adhering to legal and professional requirements.
• Promote company policies on Equality, Diversity, Dignity, Information Governance, and Safeguarding.
• Use the RADAR System effectively.
