• Maintain grounds and sweep pavement; clean gutters.
• Change light bulbs and ceiling tiles as needed.
• Move desks and furniture; stock offices and restrooms with supplies.
• Maintain records of work performed; unload incoming supplies.
• Prepare facilities for meetings and related functions; lock/unlock facilities as needed.
• Assist cafeteria staff with custodial tasks.
• Provide courteous service to all customers and support teamwork.

CUSTODIAN/JANITOR (Full time)

Location: Site Level School

Reports To: School Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: Per WBR Salary Schedule

Terms of Employment: 12 Months

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Under the direction of the Principal, the Custodian performs manual and custodial work and cleaning and routine maintenance of the schools' facilities and grounds.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cleans, vacuums, and dusts classrooms, offices and restrooms; washes windows, empties trash cans, and dusts and polishes furniture.
• Clean glass removing smudges and fingerprints.
• Wash entrance glass both interior and exterior on all doors.
• Spot clean carpets (once monthly).
• Sweep and vacuum floors.
• Maintain grounds and sweep pavement.
• Clean gutters.
• Change light bulbs as needed.
• Change ceiling tiles as needed.
• Moves desks, furniture, filing cabinets, and other items as needed/requested.
• Stock offices and restrooms with appropriate supplies.
• Maintain records of work performed.
• Unload and stock incoming supplies.
• Prepare facilities for meetings and related functions .
• Lock and unlock facilities as necessary.
• Assist cafeteria staff as needed with any custodial tasks.
• Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers.
• Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.
• Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
• Performs all duties/tasks on the daily/weekly/monthly checklist provided by the principal.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority/Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent/GED
• Custodial experience preferred
• Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform all job functions, tasks and duties
• Reliable transportation
• Adheres to all West Baton Rouge Parish School Board's Policies

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Medium: Exerts 20-60 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
