Job summary

Lincolnview Local School District is seeking a Custodian Technician for the 2nd shift. The role involves maintaining a clean, safe school facility, performing cleaning tasks, and assisting with maintenance and safety inspections throughout a 12-month/260-day calendar.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and may pursue a Bus Driver CDL. Knowledge of cleaning methods, tools for minor repairs, and grounds maintenance will be advantageous.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Bus Driver licensure/CDL.
• Knowledge of different cleaning methods, materials and equipment, and safe work practices.
• Interest or ability to use tools for minor repairs of furniture, equipment, or building areas.
• Interest/ability to operate grounds and lawn equipment, snow removal, landscaping and general maintenance.
• High School/Trade School degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility; arrange for meetings, classroom activities and events.
• Perform general cleaning and routine maintenance tasks; remove trash, clean offices/restrooms, restock supplies.
• Execute simple established cleaning tasks; assist with safety inspections and general maintenance.
• Collaborate with students, teachers and staff; maintain a positive attitude.
• Receive and complete work orders for safety, maintenance and assistance.
• Lift/move up to 50 pounds; occasional overtime and weekend hours for events.

Job Description

DAYS OF CONTRACT: 12 months/260 days a year (with vacation, sick, personal days included; also paid holidays)

TIME OF DAY: 2nd shift (8-hours a day with overtime potential)

Essential functions of the job include:

• Be responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility; providing arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events.
• Requires manual work relating to, but not limited to, performing general cleaning and routine maintenance tasks. For example: remove/dispose of trash from classrooms, cleaning offices, restrooms and other designated areas, restocking of paper and soap supplies, and other duties assigned.
• The position requires routine execution of simple established cleaning tasks. General maintenance tasks, organizing, safety inspections, and awareness of safety concerns of property and building, as well as students.
• Must include willingness to work with others, including students, teachers and other staff, and having a positive attitude, is a plus.
• Receives and completes work orders for issues in your area for safety, maintenance and assistance.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as boxes, crates, bags, etc.
• On call to respond to building emergencies.
• Make and document regular safety inspections of equipment.
• Complete assigned custodial & maintenance areas tasks.
• Assist the food service department in putting away supplies and checking inventory.
• Other duties assigned by Director of Maintenance & Transportation.
• Overtime opportunities are available and positions may include occasional Saturday hours for setup for sporting events and school activities on some occasions throughout the year.
• Must have the ability/flexibility to drive a school bus route if needed as a sub on a limited basis.
