Position Summary

The Custodial Supervisor leads custodial staff to maintain clean, safe, and well‑presented campus facilities. This role is responsible for supervising daily operations, ensuring quality standards, coordinating work assignments, and supporting staff development to maintain a healthy environment for students, employees, and visitors.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conducts thorough inspections of the work performed by the assigned custodial crew (average of 22 crew members) to ensure consistency and quality of work and adherence to established procedures and safety regulations.
  • Delegates tasks and responsibilities to meet department goals; trains employees on cleaning techniques, equipment use, methods, and procedures.
  • Provides input for hiring, performance evaluations, discipline and terminations in accordance with college policy.
  • Reviews work orders and organizes and allocates workload to ensure balance and that deadlines are met.
  • Supervises the ordering, care, maintenance, and utilization of department equipment, supplies, keys, and inventories.
  • Moves furniture and rearranges classrooms, meeting rooms, and conference rooms; performs custodial duties as required.
  • Removes snow from entrances, sidewalks, and exits as required to ensure access to spaces and the safety of others.
  • Attend mandatory safety trainings.
  • Ensures adherence to established policies and procedures, objectives and safety standards.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‑related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate work orders and daily work assignments.
  • Ability to schedule staff and allocate resources to meet departmental goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to monitor quality of work and ensure compliance with safety procedures and standards.
  • Ability to safely operate custodial equipment, including vacuum cleaners and floor‑clearing machines.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools related to custodial work.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to use job‑related software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Workday, and School Dude).
  • Knowledge of proper use and care of custodial equipment and cleaning equipment.
Conditions of Employment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid NM Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a pre‑employment background check.
  • Must successfully complete OSHA General Industry training within six months of employment.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Considerable physical activity. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or moving objects up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 50 lbs. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Work Hours

This position is based on‑site in Santa Fe, NM. Typical work shift is 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; may change based on operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent 3 years of job‑related experience to include 1 (one) year of supervisory experience
