Job summary

Davenport Community Schools is seeking a Custodian for Summer Help. This role includes tasks like vacuuming, trash removal, cleaning restrooms, and lawn mowing from June 1 to August 14, 2026. The pay rate is $16.25 per hour.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to lift 56 lbs and manage other custodial duties. Relevant knowledge of cleaning procedures and the ability to direct others is essential. Applications are encouraged for this temporary summer position.

Qualifications

• Must lift and carry physical weight of 56 lbs.
• Climb an eight-foot ladder to perform custodial tasks.
• Direct others to complete assigned tasks successfully.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum all areas including hard and soft surfaces.
• Reposition furniture correctly after cleaning.
• Dust and vacuum ceiling vents and furniture.
• Remove trash from all areas.
• Clean and sanitize desk surfaces, door handles, and restroom fixtures.
• Maintain and report on the condition of cleaning equipment.
• Perform lawn mowing and assist with delivery of supplies.

CUSTODIAN - SUMMER HELP - TAW

7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Rate of Pay: $16.25hr June 1-August 14, 2026

Duties & Responsibilities

• Vacuums all areas- hard & soft surfaces
• Repositions furniture correctly
• Dust/vacuum ceiling vents
• Vacuum upholstered furniture
• Trash removal
• Clean/sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures
• Cleans glass
• Dusts horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
• Spot cleaning of carpets and hard flooring
• Lawn mowing
• Assist with delivery of supplies
• Properly maintain equipment
• Report maintenance issues to Head & Lead Custodian
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements of Position (HBV x Yes No)

• Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.
• Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks

Special Qualification Desired

• Must have high school degree or GED
• Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks
• Have a thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment
• Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders.
