Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a dependable Custodian to perform routine cleaning and general maintenance in our facilities in Battle Creek, MI. The role focuses on dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing restrooms, cleaning kitchens, organizing supplies, and aiding with program space setup to support staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Clean and dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces including windows, doors, desks, shelves, intake vents, tables, chairs, and cabinets.
• Maintain clean carpets by detailed vacuuming, spot removal and shampooing.
• Perform hard surface care for tile, concrete, tabletops, drinking fountains, and counters including buffing, sweeping, washing, polishing, spot removal and disinfecting.
• Perform spot cleaning for walls, light switches, and doors as needed.
• Service and sanitize restrooms by cleaning floors, bathtubs, showers, sinks, urinals, toilets, and mirrors.
• Ensure cleanliness of kitchen counters, sinks, appliances, and floors.
• Empty trash and recycle receptacles; replace liners as needed.
• Assist with program space set up as directed (tables, chairs, etc.).
• Monitor and report maintenance repairs.
• Organize cleaning supplies.
• Maintain outdoor property as needed.
• Assist with building repairs as needed, such as painting, moving furniture or plumbing.
• Clean and maintain grease trap monthly and reporting the findings to the officers (if applicable).
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Safely operates and maintains equipment such as snowblowers, floor buffers, floor scrubbers, lawn mowers and lawn trimmers.

• High School Diploma / GED preferred, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Janitorial experience preferred

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (preferred)
• Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint (preferred)
• Willingness to learn new software as needed
