Job summary

MiraCosta College is seeking on-call substitute custodians to maintain cleanliness at its facilities. Custodians will be responsible for cleaning classrooms, restrooms, and offices, along with assisting in event setups. The position offers a pay rate of $26.22 per hour, subject to change based on district needs.

This role requires residency within California and is offered as assignments are needed. Applications will remain valid through June 30, 2027.

Job description

Overview

MiraCosta College is building a pool of substitute custodians. Substitute custodian assignments are on-call as needed, with working hours anytime between Monday through Thursday, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., and Friday, 3:00 - 11:30 p.m. (hours subject to change when school is not in session) at any of MiraCosta College’s work sites.

Applications are valid through June 30, 2027, at which time they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2027, and those still interested will need to reapply at that time.

Residency Requirement

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all classified staff, administrators, and temporary/hourly short-term employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case‑by‑case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

• Under direct supervision, clean, sanitize, and maintain an assigned area or building including classrooms, restrooms, offices, and related facilities.


• Perform minor maintenance and repair to furniture, fixtures and facilities.


• Assist with event setup and cleanup.


• Perform related duties as assigned.

Compensation

$26.22 per hour (range 10, step 1).
