Job summary

UC Santa Barbara is seeking a Senior Custodian to perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks on campus facilities and assist with minor maintenance. You will ensure compliance with the Physical Facilities Safety Program while supporting daily campus operations.

The role is 100% time, with a Mon–Fri early morning shift from 2:00am to 10:30am, offering a budgeted hourly range of $26.79–$34.66. Full benefits are provided to eligible staff.

Qualifications

• Heavy manual tasks are required.
• Six months custodial cleaning experience or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions.
• Experience with cleaning machines such as vacuums, buffers and floor machines is preferred.

Brief Summary of Job Duties

Under the supervision of the working Senior Lead Laborer and/or Lead Laborer, performs a wide variety of cleaning tasks and is responsible for minor maintenance and storage of equipment. Required to comply with the Physical Facilities Safety Program.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual tasks and follow oral and written instructions.
• Six months of experience in a custodial cleaning operation or an equivalent combination of training and experience
• Preferred High School Diploma
• Less than 1 year- Any experience operating vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall washing machines, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, waxers, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines during stripping, waxing, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations. Preferred
• Ability to read, write, follow oral and written instructions

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• Less than 1 year Any experience operating vacuum cleaners, buffers, wall washing machines, shampoo machines, wet/dry vacuums, waxers, floor scrubbing and/or polishing machines during stripping, waxing, buffing and/or other related cleaning operations.
