Job summary

HealthRIGHT 360 in San Francisco is seeking a full-time Custodian/Janitor for the SOMA RISE program. The role focuses on daily cleaning, maintenance, and safety, supporting a 24/7 harm-reduction, trauma-informed space for participants.

Responsibilities include following COVID safety protocols, reporting maintenance issues, and assisting with crisis de-escalation when needed. Shift may include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with diverse populations impacted by substance use and homelessness.
• First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Under limited supervision, perform daily housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance reporting for the program.
• Follow COVID Cleaning Protocols, safety, healthcare/hazardous waste policies and procedures at all times.
• Observe and assist in Stericycle procedures for the program.
• Clean bathrooms (toilets and showers) after each participant use.
• Clean all furniture, surfaces, pillows, mattresses, and other program appliances after each participant use.
• Ensure dirty linens are organized for laundry service delivery.
• Maintain cleaning supplies in a secure manner.
• Identify and report health, safety or security issues to supervision.
• Follow a schedule of preventative cleaning duties as needed.
• Prepare written reports on maintenance issues as requested.
• May assist in crises and Narcan administration as trained.
• Chaperone on-site food service and other onsite services.
• May be required to work nights and weekends.

Job Summary

Day Shift

SOMA RISE Program Participants Are 18 And Over Adults Who Are Under The Influence Of Substances And Need Short Term Assistance And Support. The Team Works To Engage Participants In Health Resources, However Great Or Small. The Program Will Operate a 24-hour, Welcoming, Compassionate, Trauma-informed, Culturally Attuned, And User-responsive Space That Focuses On The Principles Of Harm Reduction. Alongside Providing a Safe, Comfortable Space For Clients, Our Emphasis Is On Supporting People At Increased Risk Of Substance Use-related High-risk Behaviors And Trauma, Homelessness, And Death Due To Overdose. Priority Will Be Given To Clients’ Safety, And All Staff Will Be Trained In OD Prevention, Recognition, Response And Narcan Administration. Custodians in SOMA RISE Services are responsible for ensuring that all janitorial duties are performed in a timely manner, and that the site is well maintained. Duties should be carried out thoughtfully, with a minimum disruption to services, staff and participants while ensuring compliance to COVID-19 safety protocols. May be required to work nights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Service Responsibilities:

• Under limited supervision, perform daily housekeeping, cleaning, and maintenance reporting for program.
• Follow COVID Cleaning Protocols, safety, healthcare/hazardous waste policies and procedures at all times.
• Observe and assist in Stericycle procedures for program.
• Clean bathrooms (toilets and shower) after each participant use.
• Clean all furniture, surfaces, pillows, mattresses, and other program appliances after each participant use.
• Ensure dirty linens etc. are organized for laundry service delivery and output.
• Maintain cleaning supplies in secured manner.
• Identifies and reports any problems in regard to maintenance, health, safety or security of the property to the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager.
• Follow a schedule of preventative cleaning duties as needed.
• Prepare written reports on maintenance issues as requested.
• May assist in responding to crises (e.g. conflict) and overdose with crisis de-escalation interventions and Narcan.
• Chaperone on-site food service and other onsite services.
• May be required to work nights and weekends.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Attend internal program staff meetings, clinical, and administrative supervision including regular shift meetings and various ad hoc meetings.
• Along with the team, take ownership to ensure the overall quality of customer and health services at program.
• Participate in ongoing trainings on harm reduction, Narcan use, drug and alcohol use/intoxication/withdrawal, motivational interviewing, customer service, trauma-informed care, team-based care, and other related topics.

And perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Certification, and Experience

Required

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working successfully with diverse populations specifically with issues of substance abuse, mental health, criminal background, and other potential barriers to economic self-sufficiency.
• Experience working with people who use drugs and people experiencing homelessness.
• First Aid Certified within 30 days of employment.
• CPR Certified within 30 days of employment.
