Dundee Township Park District is seeking a part‑time Custodian to maintain clean, safe, and welcoming recreation spaces at the Rakow Center. You will perform daily cleaning, assist with event setups, and handle basic maintenance while supporting part‑time staff and ensuring security.

The role requires 18+ with a high school diploma, experience in cleaning, and the ability to operate professional cleaning equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
• Experience with facility cleaning and maintenance preferred
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively
• Strong attention to detail and safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting restrooms
• Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners
• Move furniture and equipment; assist with event setups and breakdowns
• Handle minor maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing lightbulbs, minor plumbing/electrical work)
• Maintain vending machines and manage trash disposal
• Respond to weather needs including snow shoveling and salting walkways
• Lock/unlock facilities, arm/disarm alarms, and ensure building security
• Support part‑time staff and assist with training when needed
• Report larger maintenance concerns to supervisor and uphold safety standards

What You Bring:

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent

• Leadership skills and ability to guide or oversee part‑time staff when needed
• First Aid/CPR certification recommended (or willingness to obtain)
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as scheduled

Schedule:

This is a part‑time position with weekend availability required. Weekend differential increases pay to $17.00 per hour

• Saturdays & Sundays between 4:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. - Midnight
• Hours may vary based on programs or facility rentals

Training Requirement:

• 1-week training required during weekdays (7:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) prior to regular shifts.
