Job summary

Eaton County is seeking a reliable custodian for second shift duties including cleaning offices, restrooms, floors, windows, and common areas. You will operate cleaners, run errands, and assist with setup for meetings while maintaining a clean, safe facility.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of custodial experience, and a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record. Pre-employment drug screening, background check, and physical are required.

Job description

Under the supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, cleans assigned offices, courtrooms, hallways, restrooms and other County facilities. Mops, strips and waxes floors and operates steam cleaner and vacuum. Washes windows and cleans walls.

***This position is for second shift. Hours 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.***

1. Empties wastebaskets and removes other debris from offices. Cleans baskets and changes liners. Removes trash from building and empties paper recycling boxes.
2. Vacuums offices and halls. Operates steam cleaner and performs spot cleaning, bonnet cleaning and extracting on carpeted surfaces.
3. Dusts and polishes furniture, baseboards, file cabinets, window ledges and other fixtures.
4. Cleans and disinfects sinks, stools and other fixtures. cleans and polishes drinking fountains and mirrors. Stocks restroom with towels, tissue and soap.
5. Mops, strips and waxes floors. Operates buffers to clean and polish floors.
6. Performs minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, unplugging fixtures and related tasks.
7. Cleans walls in offices, hallways and restrooms.
8. Washes windows, both inside and outside.
9. Operates a motor vehicle to deliver supplies of tissue, towels and other supplies to assigned buildings, deliver meals to the youth facility, pick up freight company packages, go to post office and make other deliveries.
10. Moves furniture to prepare for carpet cleaning and may help set up rooms for meetings.
11. Sets alarms at end of shift.
