Job summary

Oak View Group in Hartford, CT seeks a Custodian to maintain high standards of cleanliness before, during, and after events at PeoplesBank Arena. This role is paid hourly and operates under the current union agreement.

• Experience in cleaning or event-related roles.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
• Willing to work mornings, afternoons, overnight, weekends.
• Must be able to lift heavy objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Arrives for each scheduled shift on time, in uniform and ready to work.
• Performs light and heavy cleaning tasks, including bathrooms and locker rooms, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of garbage.
• Restocks restrooms with supplies.
• Works safely, quickly, and efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor and acknowledges guests in a friendly manner.
• All other tasks assigned by Supervisor.

Position Summary
The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the facility meets or exceeds standards of cleanliness to the utmost in guest satisfaction before, during, and after all events.
This role pays an hourly rate of $16.94 - $17.61 (per CBA).
Benefits As Per The Union Agreement.
This position will remain open until December 11, 2026.

PeoplesBank Arena is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment. The 15,000-seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women’s Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men’s Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men’s & Women’s basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses. PeoplesBank Arena is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

Responsibilities

• Arrives for each scheduled shift on time, in uniform and ready to work.
• Performs light and heavy cleaning tasks, including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms and locker rooms, sweeping, mopping, and disposing of garbage.
• Restocks restrooms with supplies.
• Works safely, quickly, and efficiently to meet all deadlines.
• Maintains a positive, outgoing demeanor and acknowledges guests in a friendly manner.
• All other tasks assigned by Supervisor.
  

Qualifications

• Cleaning or event-related experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of how to use cleaning equipment.
• Ability to operate scrubbers, buffers, carpet extractors, etc.
• Basic understanding of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Basic understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to work morning, afternoon, and/or overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects as needed.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, especially when dealing with cleaning products and Safety Data Sheets.
