Job summary

The YMCA of Indiana County is seeking a dependable, Part-Time Custodian for the night shift to maintain a clean, safe environment for members, participants, and staff. Under the direction of the Lead Custodian, this role handles day-to-day cleaning, sanitation, and general upkeep of YMCA facilities and grounds.

Schedule: part-time evening/night shift, approximately 20 hours per week; hours vary by facility needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous custodial, janitorial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally with members, staff, and vendors.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move custodial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, fitness areas, classrooms, offices, and common spaces.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect floors, furniture, and equipment.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and replenish restroom supplies.
• Perform floor care including stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing, and carpet extraction.
• Set up and tear down rooms for meetings, programs, and special events.
• Clean interior windows, walls, doors, and other facility surfaces.
• Safely operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools.
• Lock, unlock, and secure assigned areas of the facility.
• Report maintenance concerns and facility repairs.
• Respond to spills, emergencies, and other custodial needs.
• Follow YMCA safety policies and proper chemical handling procedures.
• Attend required trainings and staff meetings.
