Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Crown Point, IN is seeking a Custodian to join our custodial team. You will clean, sanitize, and maintain facilities, following daily checklists and providing legendary member experiences.

Requirements include minimum age 18, 1+ year related experience, CPR/AED & First Aid certifications within 30 days, and ability to travel within Lake County to Crossroads branches. Must work nights, weekends and holidays; training provided with Listen First and I Hear You.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of related experience required.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Complete Listen First and I Hear You Service with Care training within designated time.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Must be able to travel within Lake County to other Crossroad Branches.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule of nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Keeps facilities attractive and clean by completing daily schedule tasks and maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Performs duties including mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restroom surfaces, dusting, trash removal, window washing, vacuuming, cleaning bases of exercise equipment.
• Handle laundry, replenish disinfectant bottles, and restock closets.
• Operates and trains others on the proper use of motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Follow checklists, complete tasks, and ask for guidance as needed.
• Train, coach, and mentor Custodial staff members.
• Assist Custodial leadership in daily responsibilities with staff and ensure productivity and quality work.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Record and report needed repairs; perform repairs as directed.
• Assist with minor building maintenance and knowledge of motorized machinery used by custodial staff.
• Ensure YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
