Job summary

Delano Public Schools, ISD 879, is hiring a full-time Custodian for the night shift (Tuesday–Saturday) from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. The role involves routine custodial tasks across assigned facilities, upkeep of equipment, and safety compliance.

You will support on-the-job training for new staff and assist with seasonal projects and minor maintenance as needed. Requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, follow safety procedures, operate cleaning equipment, and work physically

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform heavy physical work.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
• Experience operating vacuums and cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs general custodial duties: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, restrooms, restocking supplies.
• Maintains custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash and disposes of waste properly.
• Unlocks and secures doors after cleaning.
• Reports needs and concerns and contributes to work orders.
• Promotes safety and environmental practices in daily tasks.
• Assists in onboarding new staff on procedures.
• Performs seasonally assigned cleaning tasks and special projects.
• Liaises with vendors for access and basic inquiries.
• May assist with snow removal and minor maintenance.
• Logs issues to supervisor and completes other duties as assigned.

Custodian - Night Shift (Tuesday-Saturday)
Description:Delano PublicSchools has an opening for anexperienced full-timecustodian to work the evening shift.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
• Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.
• Reports needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Assists in on-the-job training of new staff on routine procedures.
• Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.
• May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions. May report issues with vendors to the supervisor.
• May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
• Will report issues of any type to the supervisor.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Ability to understand verbal instructions.

• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.

• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Current Boiler License is preferred, but not required.

Hours: Full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM- 11:30 PM

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary: $20.05 - $23.40/hr (based on experience) plus Night Differential of $0.95/hr
