Responsibilities

The Custodian II performs moderately complex custodial work, including cleaning, dusting, disinfecting, sanitizing, operating floor maintenance equipment, requesting supplies, inspecting buildings and equipment, performing minor repairs, and maintaining custodial equipment. They maintain outside areas, work under general supervision, and may participate in disaster response or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activities, possibly requiring shift or location adjustments. Overtime and additional pay for evening, night, or weekend work may be available.

Essential Job Functions

• Attend work regularly, adhere to shift schedules, and perform duties as assigned.
• Perform custodial tasks efficiently, ensuring proper sanitization and safety.
• Maintain cleanliness of floors, restrooms, and other areas, report repairs, and restock supplies.
• Coach other custodians as needed.
• Inspect assigned areas, perform minor maintenance, and document activities accurately.
• Help maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of cleaning, sanitation, and infection control standards.
• Skill in using custodial equipment and handling chemicals safely.
• Ability to follow instructions, stay on task, lift up to 50 pounds, and work extended periods on hard floors.
• Ability to work harmoniously with others and irregular hours.

Requirements

• Valid Texas driver license or ability to obtain one within 90 days.
• Experience or education in custodial services, with preference for experience in healthcare or residential facilities.
• Pass background checks, drug screening, registry checks, and be at least 18 years old (21 for Waco Center for Youth).
• Compliance with immunization policies and state hospital procedures.
