Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a custodian to perform general custodial work inside and outside central and branch facilities. Daily tasks include trash removal, restroom and kitchen cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning surfaces in office areas.

Weekly duties cover sweeping, mopping, shelving cleaning, outside windows, and dusting computer equipment. Monthly work includes heavy floor cleaning and special projects, with adherence to city timekeeping and licensing requirements.

Qualifications

• Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform general custodial work inside and outside facilities, including floor and building maintenance and shelving duties.
• Daily: Remove trash, clean restrooms and kitchen area, vacuum, dust, polish and clean tables and shelves, clean telephones, windows and doors visible to the public, and manage trash and book drop shelving.
• Weekly: Sweep, mop and vacuum, clean book shelves and wall surfaces, dust computer equipment, and prepare supply lists for replenishment.
• Monthly: Heavy floor cleaning (mopping, waxing, carpet treatment) and perform special projects; adhere to City timekeeping and attendance policies; obtain and maintain required licenses and clearances.

Job description

Duties:

Performs general custodial work inside and outside central and branch facilities, to include floor and building maintenance and some shelving duties. Daily: Remove trash and replace bags. Clean restrooms and kitchen area. Vacuum as needed. Dust, polish and clean tables and shelves in office areas. Clean telephones. Clean windows and doors visible to public. Remove trash from building to outside dumpster. Empty book drop. Shelve materials. Assist with donated material disposition. Weekly: Sweep, mop and vacuum (more often if needed). Book shelves and wall cleaning (ongoing). Clean windows and doors outside of daily schedule. Dust and clean computer equipment. Turn in supply list for replenishing supplies. Monthly: Heavy floor cleaning (mopping, waxing, carpet soil treatment). Special projects as assigned. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policies. Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.
