Job summary

University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a Custodial Staff member to clean and sanitize facilities for students, staff, faculty and customers on the Boulder Campus. The role is essential and involves rotating through multiple specialist positions across the Boulder Campus.

Responsibilities

• Team Cleaning Program: rotate through specialist positions and perform duties as scheduled.

• Emergency and specialty work: respond to emergency clean-up, relocate or move furniture per safety policies.
• Routine duties: clean custodial equipment, maintain workstation, report repairs.
• Decide on specialized floor work and read safety signs for proper safety signs.

Who We Are

Facilities Management (FM) is responsible for the overall physicaldevelopment and maintenance of the campus. The mission of thedepartment is to provide a safe physical environment that promotesthe advancement and transfer of knowledge!

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

• Team Cleaning Program: employees will rotate through thedifferent specialist positions. Perform these duties as scheduledon the area floor plans. Rotation through different specialists atthe same time and some employees may be on a team of 1performingall specialist duties. The position must also perform areasubstitution duties in vacant areas or to cover for employees onleave and perform emergency clean up duties as necessary. Employeesmust wear proper personal protective equipment as required. Notifysupervisor or lead worker of safety incidents, near misses and allpotential hazards. Maintains safe work practices, participates indepartment safety meetings and completes all assigned trainings.The position covers the entire Boulder Campus and it could beassigned to any campus building or campus location.
• Snow and Ice removal: Remove all snow and ice as necessary fromwalks and stairs. Apply de-icer as needed to keep entryways openand safe.
• As an essential services employee the position is responsibleto respond to other duties as assigned on an as needed basis.Specialty and emergency work: Emergency floods – Perform initialemergency clean up; Pick up water or debris then extract carpetedfloors and upholstered furniture with disinfectant. Cleanupholstery by hand or with extractor as scheduled. Move or assistin the moving of heavy furniture incompliance with F/M and RiskManagement policies, to accomplish the work assignment. Performemergency cleaning, water pick-ups as needed. Participate in the“Eyes and Ears Program” of the University to help promote safety atthe university. The position will serve on "Emergency ResponseTeams" as needed.
• Routine duties: Clean and perform minor maintenance on allcustodial equipment to keep it in proper working order. Report allequipment needing repairs to the Team Supervisor. Empty and cleanall vacuums, auto scrubbers, buckets and hydro- and hepa-vacsdaily. Keep workstation clean and well stocked with supplies andmaterials needed to perform the work in the assigned area. Maintainworkstation in a safe manner, add water to floor drains as needed,and report updates to building floor plans.
• Decide what type of specialized floor work is needed, i.e.carpet deep extraction cleaning versus bonnet shampooing. Decidethe type of floor equipment needed to complete the task, will autoscrubbing and top-coating with wax be sufficient or does the floorneed to be completely stripped and re-waxed. Employee must haveability to read and comprehend lab safety signs, symbols andpostings. Create and place safety signs to help preventaccidents.

What You Should Know

• The work schedule for this in-person position is Monday -Friday from 4:30 am - 1:00 pm. This position may be required towork alternative shifts.
• This role is eligible for our Facilities ManagementEmployee Referral Program .

• The annual salary for this position is $40,248.
• If you have prior state-classified experience in the same classseries as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount perthe state Step Pay Programimplemented on July 1, 2024.
