Custodian (Head, FT)

Location: Hartford, CT, United States of America

Salary: $19.00/hr

Duties and Responsibilities (illustrative only):

• Assists in developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and standards of work.
• Provides leadership and guidance to departmental personnel.
• Assists the supervisor in developing the department's annual budget.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Ensures quality standards are met by inspecting work.
• Makes recommendations for safety and cost improvements.
• Maintains good relationships with other departments.
• Provides technical training to custodial staff.
• Investigates and reports unusual occurrences.
• Schedules personnel coverage.
• Conducts orientation and ongoing training.
• Performs minor maintenance repairs and safety checks.
• Communicates effectively with English-speaking colleagues and clients.

Qualification Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with at least 5 years of custodial experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting systems.

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read, interpret, and write reports and manuals.
• Effective communication skills; fluency in Spanish preferred.
• Reasoning ability to solve problems and follow instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Ability to work in environments with chemicals, noise, and varying weather conditions.
