Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors.
• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Washes windows and walls.
• Vacuum, spot cleans, and shampoos carpets.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Maintains custodial supplies and equipment.
• Reports damages or needed maintenance or building repairs in assigned areas.
• Shovels snow at building entrances.
• Sets up equipment and seating for public meetings, seminars, demonstration projects, etc.
• Requisitions and dispenses household supplies such as paper towels and soaps.
• Maintains a safe working environment around facilities and associated equipment, including obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information for hazards.
• Participates in safety training and complies with safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
• Performs additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions

Other Duties & Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
• Dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment.
• Washes windows and walls.
• Vacuum, spot cleans, and shampoos carpets.
• Empties and cleans waste receptacles.
• Maintains supplies in restrooms.
• Moves and arranges furniture and equipment.
• Makes beds for summer events.
• Sets up equipment and seating for public meetings, seminars, demonstration projects, etc.
• Requisitions and dispenses household supplies such as paper towels and soaps.
• Maintains custodial supplies and equipment.
• Reports damages or needed maintenance or building repairs in assigned areas.
• Gathers recyclables from various recycling locations.
• Cleans up bodily fluids using appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
• Shovels snow at building entrances.
• Performs monthly building safety inspections.
• Maintains a safe working environment around facilities and associated equipment, including obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information for hazards.
• Participates in safety training and complies with safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
• Performs additional duties and assists with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications – Education & Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Formal Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum 3 months working as a professional custodian preferred.
• Additional Knowledge/Skills:
  • Working knowledge of cleaning procedures and operation of power floor scrubbers.
  • Working knowledge of the properties of various cleaning substances.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to use various cleaning equipment and products.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for long periods.
  • Ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor.
  • Ability to verbally communicate for exchanging information.

Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when required. A respiratory function test and the ability to use respirators may be required. The campus is located in an area that contains numerous hills and slopes and may not always be fully accessible for mobility‑impaired individuals.
