Job summary

Polaris Tech Charter School is hiring a full-time Custodian/Food Service staff to maintain our facilities and support daily food service operations for students and staff in Ridgeland, SC. You will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and ensure health and safety standards are met.

The role includes assisting with lunch service, stocking supplies, cleaning duties, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for the school community.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as custodian or janitor.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Familiarity with MSDS and safety data sheets.
• Ability to work independently with integrity.
• High school diploma.
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
• Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman tasks.

• Food handler to assist with lunch daily.

Polaris Tech is seeking full-time Custodian/Food Service staff to take care of our buildings and carry out cleaning and food service duties to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.

This position reports to the Director of Finance and Operations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Food Handler to assist with lunch daily - must be food handler certified
• Stock and maintain supply rooms
• Follow all health and safety regulations
• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors daily.
• Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables.
• Clean mirrors, window and stainless-steel areas
• Ensure all equipment used is cleaned and put away after use.
• All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
• Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets
• Integrity and ability to work independently.
• High school degree
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

SKILLS: Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating small equipment; diagnostic.

KNOWLEDGE: Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: fundamentals of cleaning, painting, electrical, landscaping and plumbing work.

ABILITIES: Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Adapting to changing work priorities; displaying mechanical aptitude; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities and working as part of a team as well as individually; lift, carry, push, pull or guide up to 50 pounds individually or more than 50 pounds with assistance.
