Job summary

Hutchinson Community College is seeking a dedicated custodian to perform daily cleaning and basic maintenance across campus facilities. The role requires punctuality and a professional appearance, with flexibility to cover day, evening, and weekend shifts as needed.

The successful candidate will work with fellow staff, adhere to college policies, and contribute to a clean, welcoming environment for students and the community.

Qualifications

• Custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily cleaning of buildings: dusting, windows, floors, walls and furniture; restroom fixtures; basic upkeep of fixtures and surfaces.
• Maintain interior spaces from ceiling to floor, including cleaning light fixtures, vents, and HVAC filters as location requires.
• Assist other staff as needed and support campus operations.
• Available on weekends as necessary to cover shifts.
• Arrive on time and perform responsibilities consistently.
• Comply with Hutchinson Community College policies and practices.

• Daily cleaning of buildings includes dusting, cleaning windows, floors, walls, and furniture, restroom fixtures, toilets, sinks, etc. Includes the use of custodial tools and equipment.


• Custodians are responsible for maintaining the interior spaces from the ceiling to the floor. This includes but not limited to cleaning light fixtures and replacing light bulbs, cleaning HVAC supply and return vents, and changing HVAC filters depending on their location.


• Assist other employees as needed.


• Willingness to weekend hours as necessary.


• Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.


• Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.

Coordinators of the Facilities department.

• Custodial experience preferred.

• Physical requirements include but are not limited to safely pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, walking, carrying, climbing, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds; possess eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to operate equipment, tools, etc.


• May work in adverse conditions with possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissue, and communicable disease; understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; Medium/Indoor and outdoor work environment


• Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
