Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Custodian/Driver for the Elgin Corps to maintain a clean, safe facility and operate the corps vans for community services and pantry operations.

The role requires a valid IL driver’s license, basic maintenance know-how, and the ability to perform light to heavy physical tasks. Strong reliability and adherence to TSA MVR checks are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School education or its equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Basic experience in maintenance and knowledge of related tools and equipment.
• Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
• Clearance of TSA MVR check.

Responsibilities

• Custodial Duties: Clean entire building including offices and Chapel; vacuum carpets and mop floors.
• Bathrooms: replace towels and toilet paper; ensure liquid soap is stocked.
• Meetings: set up classrooms and rooms for corps activities and weekly events.
• Grounds work: outdoor grounds keeping and parking lot maintenance.
• Driving: operate corps vans; arrange pick-ups; perform routine maintenance and report issues.
