Custodian Driver Full Time

Salary: $16.00 per hour

General Position Summary: Performs custodial duties to fulfill custodial services contract requirements according to customer specifications. Performs all tasks in a safe manner and meets organization quality standards. Must be open to learning. May work independently or in cooperation with a team.

Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities

• Primary driver for the team(s) assigned.
• Performs custodial duties such as vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, and other miscellaneous services safely and in compliance with all policies and procedures.
• Monitors supply needs and stock levels; places supply requests as needed to maintain adequate inventory; assists with distribution of supplies.
• Checks quality against task lists and other control documents to ensure all items are completed for the site each time.

Secondary Functions

• Performs quality assurance checks.
• Provides input on ways the organization can create integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
• Participates in and attends committees/teams as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Scope

Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from established procedures. Decisions are made within general company policy constraints but may occasionally require independent decision-making. Mistakes or errors may result in customer complaints and potential contract cancellation, impacting public relations and finances.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not supervisory in nature.

Interpersonal Contacts

Internal contacts include own department staff and supervisor; external contacts are primarily customers. Contacts are mostly face‑to‑face, with about 20% external and 80% internal.

Specific Job Skills Required

• Own transportation, valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance preferred.
• Primary driver for designated team(s).
• Physical ability to operate custodial equipment; bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs, and make repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Physical ability to push/pull up to 20 pounds, lift up to 200 pounds with assistance, and carry up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Balance attentiveness to quality while concentrating on speed.
• Notice detail.
• Make decisions, use independent judgment, and provide customer service.
• Willing to work an 8‑hour day and up to 40 hours/week as required.
• Read, write, speak, and understand English preferred.
• Participate in team development and team‑oriented processes.

Education and Experience Required

• Minimum of 1 to 6 months experience/training in general custodial service.
• Minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.

Job Conditions

This position requires working in an environment with exposure to fumes, noise, poor lighting, ventilation, dirt, dust, chemicals, odors, building temperature fluctuations, and biohazards. Other conditions include working alone, on‑call status, shift work, disagreeable contacts, and frequent interruptions. May be required to attend meetings outside of regular shift.
