Why does the job exist? Custodians perform a variety of heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. They may fix leaky faucets, empty trash cans, do painting and carpentry, replenish bathroom supplies, mow lawns, and see that heating and air-conditioning equipment works properly. Janitors may wet- or dry-mop floors, clean bathrooms, vacuum carpets, dust furniture.

Who are the customers? Our facility is a secure facility which serves the needs of adolescent males age 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in housekeeping, environmental services or custodial work,
• Knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitation and infection control practices,
• Ability to work independently and follow established cleaning procedures,
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work assigned schedules.
  

Minimum Qualification No Prior Experience Or Training Required.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center, with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents, who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors. This position may work in an office setting using related office equipment, with exposure to Visual Video Display Terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Pushing, pulling, lifting and/or carrying.

Bargaining Unit Position This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
