Lincoln Public Schools is seeking a 12 Month Custodian for Culler Middle School in Lincoln, Nebraska. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, custodial experience is preferred, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and move across stairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy-duty cleaning as directed.
• Report maintenance needs to supervisors immediately.
• Assist with snow removal when required.

The Custodial position at Lincoln Public Schools is responsible for a variety of job duties that help maintain a safe, clean, and highly sanitary environment for students, staff, and visitors across all Lincoln Public Schools properties. This position ensures that all school buildings, classrooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, entryways, stairways, grounds, gyms, and other assigned areas are rigorously sanitized, clean, and free of hazards. This position is a critical part of the operations team that helps protect the well being of children while supporting their daily success.

Custodial Responsibilities & Daily Duties

• Maintain facilities: Keep buildings and property in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Floor care: Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors.
• Waste management: Gather and empty all trash.
• Restroom upkeep: Scrub, sanitize, and restock restroom supplies.
• Chemical safety: Mix and use cleaning solutions and power machinery according to safety instructions to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Heavy cleaning: Perform heavy-duty cleaning tasks as directed.
• Maintenance reporting: Notify supervisors immediately of needed repairs to buildings or operating systems.
• Will be required to assist with snow removal.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. (preferred)
• Experience: Previous custodial cleaning experience in a public or private building (preferred)
• Knowledge: Practical working knowledge of proper housekeeping practices and procedures (preferred)
• Physical demands: Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and carry this weight up and down stairs throughout the day.

This position is subject to a Veterans preference.

This position pays $20.97/hr.
