Job summary

Lincoln County Schools in Denver, NC, seeks skilled Custodian and Bus Driver at North Lincoln Middle School. This 10-month, part-time position covers 5.5 hours per day to support student safety and campus upkeep. Reporting to the Principal, the role combines transportation and custodial duties.

Starting Sept 8, 2026, the pay range is $16.07–$21.69 per hour with leave benefits only. Applicants must pass background/TB checks and maintain required driving credentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Pass drug test, background check, and TB test before starting.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record to obtain NCCDL and drive a bus as directed by supervisor.
• Must comply with safety rules for school bus operation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once learned.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to read, write and keep records.
• Ability to perform simple calculations.
• Must be able to perform very heavy work occasionally and lift objects.

Grade 58 ($16.07 - $21.69 per hour)

The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system may not be recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.

Qualifications/Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to pass a drug test, background check, and TB test before starting employment.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that qualifies employee to obtain and maintain a valid NCCDL and drive a bus as directed by supervisor
• Must comply with all rules and regulations governing the safe operation of a school bus
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision once the job is learned

• Ability to perform simple calculations
• Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
