Job summary

City of Reading is seeking a Custodian (2nd Shift) in Reading, PA. The role requires the ability to work independently in an office/light industrial setting, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform general janitorial duties.

Typical duties include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathrooms/locker rooms, exterior cleaning, window wiping, and performing assigned tasks. Minimum qualifications: High School diploma or GED; PA Class C license preferred; custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid PA Class C driver’s license is preferred.
• Custodial or janitorial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Dusting / vacuuming carpets, mats, and rugs.
• Sweeping and mopping floors.
• Thorough cleaning of all bathrooms / locker rooms.
• Keeping the exterior of the building clean which may include shoveling/snow removal, leaf clean up, etc.
• Wiping of glass in common areas.
• Perform all duties assigned.

The Custodian must be able to work independently in an office/ light industrial setting. The Custodian must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and handle the physical demands of the job. Overtime may be required.
