SUMMARY: Reports to the building's head custodian or his/her designee and performs custodial tasks according to standard practices of institutional housekeeping trades, observing policies adopted by the Special Administrative Board and regulations of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

1. Performs custodial duties including using regular and mechanical equipment; cleaning; dust mopping; vacuuming; scrubbing floors, walls, and ceilings; replacing lamps; maintaining building grounds, including snow removal as needed.
2. Performs custodial tasks following standard institutional housekeeping practices.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in institutional housekeeping or equivalent training preferred.
• Ability to work well under supervision and independently.
• Ability to work at various sites and locations cooperatively.
• Ability to climb ladders for inspections and replacements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
• Ability to stand for 7 out of 8 hours per day.
• Ability to read work orders and operate custodial equipment such as floor strippers, buffers, shampooers, vacuums, and tools.
• Successful background check.

Physical Demands

• Exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently.
• Prolonged standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching.
• Sufficient vision and hearing for job requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Access to all school areas as needed.
