Job summary

The DVA-NE Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe, LA is seeking a dedicated Custodian/Housekeeper to clean on a daily basis, mop, disinfect, dust, and sweep assigned areas. The role includes stripping, buffing, waxing, and disinfecting floors using industrial machinery with a premium pay of $1.00 per hour for each hour worked.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.

Responsibilities

• Clean contaminated trash bins & contaminated trash
• Decontaminate patient rooms, restrooms, and isolation rooms that contain biohazard wastes such as blood, urine, feces, and used needles.
• Dispose of infectious waste when necessary and document that proper procedures were followed.
• Report deficiencies such as paint peeling, water leaks in faucets/toilets, bugs in light covers, broken equipment, etc.

The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to primarily serve the veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of medical, restorative, and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning the veterans to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionateCustodian/Housekeeperto clean on a daily basis, mop, disinfect, dust, and sweep assigned areas. To also strip, buff, wax, and disinfect floors in an assigned area on a regular basis using required industrial machinery.

Six months of experience in custodial, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or food service work.
