• Cleans bathrooms, offices, hallways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing.
• Empties and decontaminates trash containers; may assist in disposing of infectious waste.
• Moves, rearranges, and dusts furniture and fixtures.
• Learns to mix or blend cleaning solutions to proper concentrations as necessary for various tasks.
• Assists in setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, or other occasions.
• Washes blinds, windows, and walls with prescribed solutions.
• Operates a vacuum for cleaning carpeted areas.
• Strips, decontaminates, and makes beds for patients, residents, students, etc.
• Reports needs for minor building and/or equipment repairs to a higher-level custodian.

This role is vital in performing basic manual tasks in order to maintain the cleanliness, sanitary conditions, and appearance of state buildings, facilities, institutions, etc. The ideal candidate a team player, willing to learn, and be able to maintain job requirements in a fast-paced environment.
