New Hanover County is seeking a dedicated Custodian to join our Facilities Management Department. The role ensures a welcoming and well-maintained environment for employees and visitors, performing cleaning, sanitizing and restocking tasks across offices and common areas.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, with hours on Wednesday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexibility for evenings, weekends and holidays, and a salary range that starts at $35,360 and may go up to $60,112

Qualifications

• Education through the 8th grade and one year of progressively responsible work experience as listed in the page.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License and a good driving record are required.
• Experience working in facilities maintenance or custodial duties is a plus.

Hours

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Off on Mon/Tues).

The building location assignment may vary depending on the needs of the department. Some shifts include evenings and weekends. Must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and during emergency situations.

Salary Information

The target hiring range for this position is $35,360 to $47,736. The full salary range for an incumbent hired into this position is $35,360 - $60,112. Starting salary will be based on qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, and budget. Candidates with exceptional qualifications and experience may be considered for a starting salary above the target hiring range, but not to exceed the maximum of the salary range.

Required Education and Experience

• Education through the 8th grade and one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License & good driving record is required.
