Job summary

Macdonald-Training-Center, Inc. is hiring two part-time custodial positions in Tampa. One role works Mon/Wed/Fri 12:00 PM–5:00 PM at 5420 W Cypress Street, and the other works Tue/Thu 12:00 PM–4:30 PM at 3901 Coconut Palm Drive.

Duties include cleaning, disinfection, restroom sanitization, and event setup as needed. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (experience preferred), ability to follow instructions in English, and the capacity to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not essential with appropriate experience.
• One year of experience in custodial/janitorial or housekeeping work.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning tasks including trash removal, dusting, furniture cleaning, glass cleaning, mirrors, and disinfection.
• Perform floor cleaning (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, spot removal, spray buffing).
• Clean and disinfect restrooms (toilets, sinks, fixtures, walls, ceilings, floors).
• Replenish paper products, soap and sanitizer.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of trash properly.
• Maintain and use custodial equipment and supplies.
• Clean offices, conference rooms, classrooms, etc.
• Report hazardous conditions and facilities in need of repair; submit work orders and check supplies.
• Communicate clearly with facilities staff and supervisor; participate in training and quality improvement for safety and environment.

Hiring for 2 Part-time openings:

• 1 part-time position, will work Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM, at 5420 W Cypress Street, Tampa, FL 33607
• 1 part-time position, will work Tuesday & Thursday from 12:00 PM - 4:30 PM, at 3901 Coconut Palm Drive, Tampa, FL 33619

• Performs general cleaning tasks such as trash removal, dusting, furniture cleaning, glass cleaning, mirrors, and disinfection.
• Performs various floor cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, spot removal from carpets, spray buffing, etc.
• Cleans and disinfects restrooms, including toilets, sinks, fixtures, walls, ceilings, and floors.
• Replenishes paper products, soap and sanitizer.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.
• Performs routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.
• Performs cleaning in offices, conference rooms, classrooms, etc.
• Reports hazardous conditions and facilities in need of repair to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
• Clear communication with facilities staff and supervisor.
• Participates in training and quality improvement to promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Cleans refrigerators, microwaves, toaster ovens, and other appliances as needed.
• Assist with setup and teardown for events.
• Replaces empty water bottles for coolers.
• Projects as assigned.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Maintain a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred but not essential with appropriate experience. One (1) year of experience in custodial /janitorial or housekeeping work. The ability to follow written and oral instructions in English and perform custodial duties without direct supervision. The ability to use a variety of cleaning chemicals in a safe manner, according to manufacturer’s specifications. The ability to operate carpet vacuums, floor machines, wet/dry vacuums, pressure washers and associated cleaning tools and equipment. The ability to work in environments with extreme temperature and humidity common in Florida. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be a self-starter, who works well in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as a team member. Has the ability to maintain a consistent, dependable, and regular work schedule. Flexibility, multi-tasking, excellent judgment, and follow-through are required. Ability to check email.

Must pass a Level II background check/fingerprinting (https://info.flclearinghouse.com), drug screening, and FDOT/MVR check.

Compensation

Compensation: $15.00/hour
