Job summary

Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore, TX, seeks a qualified part-time custodian to keep church facilities clean and orderly. The role runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays, with up to 4 hours weekly and an additional 1.5 hours for events as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Notify the Office Manager of maintenance or repair needs.

Job Details: Level: Entry, Job Location: Skidmore, TX 78389, Position Type: Part Time, Salary Range: $14.00 - $14.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: General Labor, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Skidmore, Texas, is seeking to hire a qualified part-time Custodian. This is a part-time position (between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Mondays and Fridays) scheduled for not more than 4 hours per week. Also, occasionally as needed for unexpected events on unscheduled days for an additional 1.5 hours. The primary purpose of this position is to keep buildings clean and in an orderly condition.

Responsibilities

• As an integral part of the ministry for the Church, this position will support and uphold the philosophy of the Catholic ministry and the mission of the Diocese of Corpus Christi in both professional and personal life
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Continually grow in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, trainings sessions, and reflection activities as directed
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in all areas of the church and other buildings on parish property; and ensures all buildings are secured at the end of each business day
• Performs routine general maintenance activities
• Performs heavy cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, scrubbing, and wiping surfaces, emptying trash, dusting, and washing screens
• Sanitizes restrooms and high-touch surfaces
• Uses cleaning solutions and work with chemicals carefully following instructions
• Notifies Priest or Office Manager regarding the need for maintenance repairs or damages immediately and supply needs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Texas driver's license
• Reliable, honest, and trustworthy
• Ability to work with little supervision, manage time efficiently and maintain a high level of performance.
• Strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of standard cleaning chemicals and sanitization procedures
• Experience with using cleaning equipment including vacuum cleaners, and cleaning solutions.

Additional Requirements

• Must successfully complete pre-employment screening this includes a criminal history background check provided by the Diocese of Corpus Christi
• Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources (renewed every 3 years)
• Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures
