Job summary

Cameron County is seeking a Custodian to perform routine cleaning and maintenance for facilities located in Santa Rosa/La Feria. The role involves cleaning offices, hallways, and common areas, with responsibilities that include mopping, window cleaning, bathroom sanitation, and waste disposal.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years of custodial or cleaning experience, plus a valid Texas driver's license.

• Cleans windows and glass doors on a daily basis.
• Cleans and disinfects bathrooms and floors; buffs floors.
• Maintains clean building; keeps area water fountains and hallway furniture clean.
• Maintains outside property areas clean from any trash.

CUSTODIAN

Location: Santa Rosa/La Feria

PAY PLAN: 105 - $ 31,422.00 minimum salary

Purpose of Classification

Performs technical work in cleaning and/or building maintenance function. Duties include cleaning existing structures and office furniture. Positions in this class perform routine cleaning and identify needed corrective actions to resolve discrepancies.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Ability:

Tasks require the ability to exert medium physical effort in medium work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of medium weight (20-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion at a keyboard or work station.

Sensory Requirements:

Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors:

Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

This position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period prior to Civil Service eligibility; Must submit to a drug and alcohol evaluation.
