Job summary

IEM is hiring a Custodian in San Antonio to maintain cleanliness across production areas, restrooms, offices and break rooms while adhering to safety and environmental standards. The role is 100% in‑office during plant ramp‑up, with a permanent site near Brooks, TX, and no remote work offered.

You will follow written and verbal instructions, work independently when needed, and contribute to a fast‑paced, collaborative facility that values reliability and initiative.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in production areas, break rooms, restrooms, hallways and offices.
• Dust surfaces and wipe down furniture and fixtures.
• Empty trash and dispose of waste responsibly.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms; replenish supplies as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness in common areas including break rooms and entryways.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and maintained.
• Complete janitor checklists at end of each shift.
• Notify maintenance of repairs or maintenance needs.
• Clean refrigerators weekly.
• Handle cleaning chemicals safely; follow PPE guidelines.
• Perform routine cleaning tasks and window washing.
• Maintain supply orders and assist buyer for replenishment.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of both the interior and exterior areas of the facility, including production areas, restrooms, offices, and common spaces, while complying with safety and environmental standards.

This position will be based temporarily in NE San Antonio while our new manufacturing plant is coming online. Our permanent location is approximately 25 minutes away at Brooks, 7515 Inner Circle Dr., San Antonio, 78235. The position is also 100% in-office and does not offer remote work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in production area, break rooms, restrooms, hallways and office spaces.
• Dust surfaces and wiping down furniture and fixtures.
• Empty trash bins and dispose of waste in safe and environmentally responsible manner.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms; replenish supplies (toilet paper, soap, etc.) as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness in all common areas including break rooms, Conference rooms, and entryways.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are fully stocked and properly maintained.
• Complete janitor checklists at the end of each shift.
• Notify maintenance manager when repairs or maintenance are required.
• Clean and sanitize refrigerators on a weekly basis.
• Handle cleaning chemicals according to safety guidelines.
• Follow safety protocols and war appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Perform routine cleaning tasks, including window washing, dusting, and surface cleaning.
• Maintain supply order lists and submit them to the buyer for replenishment of cleaning supplies.
• Flexible and adaptable team player who operates with agility and resourcefulness, and thrives in an often-changing environment. You will be operating with a start‑up mindset and must be willing to help wherever needed - "not my job" is an unacceptable response.

COMPETENCIES:

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions from the maintenance team.
• Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness in a fast‑paced environment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous cleaning experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus

Physical Demands:

Activities: Sitting – 5% Walking/Standing – 95%

Lifting: Must be able to continuously lift up to 50 lbs.

Bending: Must be able to bend, squat, and climb.

Mental Demands: Ability to interpret, analyze, research and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Environment: Shop/warehouse. Not climate controlled. Exposure to excessive heat and cold, wet/humid conditions, noise, vibration, hazards, dust and fumes.
