This position performs various cleaning tasks to provide all staff, visitors, and patients a safe and clean environment. The incumbent maintains high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and freedom from hazards and infections. The position involves working around patients, visitors, and staff without causing disruptions, and handling specialized cleaning needs and hazards in different departments. It is not responsible for providing patient care.

Responsibilities

1. Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs, and dusts floors.
2. Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, patient beds, and scrubs walls.
3. Dusts, cleans, and vacuums furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings using appropriate cleaning supplies.
4. Operates and maintains electric floor machines, snow blowers, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing, and upholstery equipment.
5. Cleans, refinish, and maintains various floor coverings.
6. Cleans patient rooms, beds, waiting areas, and examination tables.
7. Labels and removes infectious waste bags and containers.
8. Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
9. Replaces sharps containers, transports trash, and organizes closets.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Ability to perform essential job functions.
• Effective communication and human relations skills.
• Proficiency in using basic electronic devices.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position.
• A valid Utah driver’s license may be required depending on the department.
• Preferred: Six months of related experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work with chemical hazards, and perform tasks involving standing, walking, and the use of ladders. Reasonable accommodations may be provided.
