Job summary

SHORE UP!, Inc. seeks a Facilities Maintenance helper to maintain building grounds and keep facilities safe and presentable for programs at SHORE UP! locations.

This role supports outside services when needed and reports to the supervisor. Candidates should have at least five years in maintenance, basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical knowledge, and the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in maintenance and/or household repair.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical work.
• Willing to participate in some in-service training in maintenance and general repairs.
• Able to read, interpret and follow oral/written instructions.
• Knowledge of building, plumbing and electrical supply vendors.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpet throughout.
• Clean corners of all rooms and behind & under equipment.
• Mop tile floors using heavy duty cleaning instructions.
• Empty trash cans and remove trash from building.
• Sanitize and polish drinking fountains.
• Clean, sanitize, and polish all glossy fixtures, toilets, walls and wash basins.
• Clean bathing area (SHOWERS).
• Clean and polish chrome fittings, mirrors and glass surfaces.
• Clean glass doors & windows to office.
• Clean surfaces around tables, countertops and cooking areas.
• Clean chair surfaces and recliner surfaces.
• Clean drain area under sinks in kitchen.
• Replace trash can liners.
• Remove spots and fingerprints from walls/doors/woodwork.
• Remove debris around buildings and sweep sidewalks.
• Refill dispensers to normal levels (soap, toilet tissue, towels).
• Hang wet mop to dry.
• Inspect floors for foreign substances and remove them.
• Arrange furniture as specified.
• Turn off lights and secure building (lock doors).

Job description

The person selected for this position will be responsible for the maintenance of the buildings grounds, and will keep them in a safe and presentable condition for conducting programs at SHORE UP! facilities. This person will assist, upon request of the immediate supervisor, for outside services when necessary to keep all facilities and grounds in good repair.

Daily Clean-up

• Vacuum carpet throughout.
• Clean the corners of all rooms and behind & under equipment.
• Mop tile floors (Use the heavy duty cleaning instructions on all cleaning material).
• Empty trash cans and remove trash from building.
• Sanitize and polish drinking fountains.
• Clean, sanitize, and polish all glossy fixtures, toilet bowls & base, walls in the bathroom and wash basins.
• Clean bathing area (SHOWERS).
• Clean and polish all chrome fittings.
• Clean and polish all mirrors.
• Clean all glass doors & glass windows to office.
• Clean on top, around & under tables, counter tops, and cooking surfaces.
• Clean chair surfaces and recliner surfaces.
• Clean drain area in kitchen area under sinks.
• Replace trash can liners.
• Remove spots and fingerprints from walls, doors and wood work.
• Remove all debris around buildings and sweep side walks.
• Refill all dispensers to normal limits soap, toilet tissue, hand towels, etc.
• Hang wet mop up at the end of the day (To help mop head to dry).
• Clean and sanitize around the sides of soap dispenser, towel dispenser, and toilet bowl.
• Move tables in the eating area and Clean and Sanitize floor.
• Clean & Sanitize trash containers and lids.
• Inspect floors for foreign substances and remove same (e.g., tar, gum, grease).
• Arrange furniture as specified.
• Turn off all lights.
• Secure building (lock doors).

Weekly Cleaning Activities

• Replace or Clean & Sanitize mop head.
• Spray buff wax tile floors.
• Clean & Sanitize all bathrooms and kitchen walls.
• Clean & Sanitize exhaust fan in bathroom and kitchen.
• Dust all interior office doors and project signs.
• Dust all furniture, window sills, pictures and paintings.
• Clean light fixtures.
• Clean mop room (janitor area).
• Remove dust & cobwebs from walls and ceiling.

Periodic & As Needed Activities

Replacing light bulbs

Monthly

• Change air filters.
• Clean stove hoods & front of kitchen appliance.
• Flush in-floor water pipes.

Six-Month Activities

• Change Air filters.
• Wash Air Vent Grille.
• Strip and Wax tile floors.
