Job summary

Responsibilities

• Open and close the building for daily operations and use security systems.
• Clean assigned areas per schedules (offices, common areas, restrooms, kitchens, cafeterias).
• Use prescribed methods for trash removal, sweeping, mopping, polishing surfaces, windows, and mirrors.
• Operate equipment such as auto scrubbers, carpet machines, and pressure washers.
• Set up, tear down, and arrange equipment for public events.
• Follow diagrams and written or verbal instructions.
• Proficient with computers and handheld devices.
• Work outdoors in inclement weather for seasonal duties.
• Load/unload supplies and assist with shipments.
• Enter work orders into the CMMS.
• Other duties as assigned by Facilities Director.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Facilities Maintenance/Custodial Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Assisting the facilities team in providing a clean, safe, and presentable facility and helping to preserve the organization’s assets by following best practices in cleaning and housekeeping.

SALARY: Per USW CBA (New) $20 - $23.90/hour

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Open and/or close the building for its daily functions, which will include working with automated building security systems.
• 2. Cleaning of assigned areas utilizing established schedules; areas may include but will not be limited to administrative offices, common working and eating spaces, restrooms, kitchenettes, and cafeterias. etc.
• 3. Use prescribed methods to perform duties that may include but are not limited to: trash removal, sweeping and/or dust mopping floors, polishing hard surfaces, cleaning windowsand mirrors, dusting office furniture and equipment.
• 4. Using equipment like auto scrubbers, carpet machines, and pressure washers to perform duties.
• 5. Arrange, set up, and/or tear down equipment and staging for public events.
• 6. Possess the ability to work from diagrams, written and/or verbal instructions.
• 7. Proficient in working with computers and handheld devices.
• 8. Comfortable and able to work in inclement weather conditions to perform various seasonal duties that may include picking up trash and debris from the grounds.
• 9. Load and unload supplies for the department and occasional shipments for the building functions.
• 10. Assist the facilities team in capturing items in need of repair and entering work orders into our CMMS.
• 11. Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Director.

REQUIRED APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1. High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2. Mandatory: one to two years of custodial work.
• 3. Must be able to lift a minimum of seventy-five pounds.
• 4. Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• 5. Comfortable working in the presence of students with disabilities.
• 6. Demonstrated experience in handling responsibility.
• 7. All applicants who are conditionally considered for employment will be required to submit to a drug screen and background check.
