Job summary

Catawba Indian Nation in Rock Hill, SC is hiring a full-time Custodian to maintain and clean tribal facilities. The role involves cleaning floors, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces while operating cleaning equipment.

You will report supply needs and follow all policies. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within 12 months from start date as a condition of continued employment
• Experience: One (1) year’s experience in custodial or housekeeping duties is preferred

Custodian member is responsible for the upkeep and cleaning of the tribal facilities.

Essential Functions

An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Vacuum, mop, sweep, dust, and clean wood, glass, doors, tables, chairs, machines, and carpets.
• Responsible for cleanliness of floors in assigned public and employee areas, which includes all front and back of the building.
• Cleaning of bathrooms and kitchen areas
• Maintain and clean equipment used; use equipment properly.
• Responsible for informing Manager of any cleaning supplies or maintenance concerns needed.
• Ensure all applicable operating policies and procedures are always adhered to.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• One (1) years’ experience in custodial or housekeeping duties is preferred.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and equipment preferred

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift and maneuver a minimum of sixty (60) pounds.
• Must be able to push or pull a minimum of five (5) to sixty (60) pounds to assigned areas.
• Must be able to walk or stand for 100% of assigned shift (4-5 hours).
• Ability to tolerate areas containing dust, second-hand smoke, bright lights and loud noises.
• Uses dexterity and gross motor skills continually; frequently bends, pulls, pushes, lifts, and reaches above shoulders; occasionally kneels, climbs, and crawls to work in difficult positions
