Job summary

The DM Burr Group is seeking a full-time Custodian for the 2nd shift in the River Rouge School District. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 11:00pm, with duties including cleaning, floor care, trash removal, and light maintenance. Comprehensive training is provided.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, be self-motivated, detail-focused, and able to lift up to 40 lbs. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED or technical school certification.
• Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• 0-6 months custodial/janitorial experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Read and follow label Instructions on cleaning supplies.
• Follow basic verbal and written instructions.
• Pay attention to detail, team-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Use approved methods and materials in cleaning and caring for assigned facility.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as auto floor scrubbers, burnishing buffers, stripping machines and vacuums.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub and polish floors using industrial vacuum cleaners and scrubbing and buffing machines.
• Empty trash receptacles.
• May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• General cleaning furniture, window sills, and walls.
• Dust, wash walls, clean ceilings, and polish light fixtures.
• Move cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas.
• Clean/stock all restroom, janitorial closet and break rooms.
• Record and document all cleaning functions on logs and report to Supervisor.
• Perform light building maintenance duties as needed.
• Report any major safety item for repair.
• Other duties as assigned.
