Job summary

City of DeSoto is seeking a Facilities Custodian to clean and maintain municipal facilities, including floors, restrooms, and common areas. The role includes stocking and managing supply inventory and assisting with routine maintenance tasks.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, knowledge of safety procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with staff, the public, and officials. On-site work supports a safe, clean, and welcoming city environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of municipal facilities by keeping floors mopped, swept, and vacuumed; clean glass surfaces; manage trash and recycling.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
• Perform periodic maintenance such as dusting, floor stripping/waxing, carpet cleaning.
• Supervise supply inventory and submit replenishment requests.
• Assist with facility maintenance by reporting needs.

The purpose of the position is to clean and maintain City of DeSoto facilities. This is accomplished by completing routine cleaning, stocking and managing supply inventory, and related maintenance tasks.

• Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of municipal facilities by ensuring all floors are mopped, swept, and vacuumed; wiping all glass surfaces and windows in high traffic areas; and removal and sorting of all trash and recycling items from assigned work spaces.
• Cleans all restrooms by cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces; cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures; and restocking facility supplies.
• Completes periodic maintenance by completing tasks such as scheduled dust removal on all surfaces in assigned areas; stripping and waxing of hard surface flooring; shampooing of all high traffic carpet surfaces; and cleaning of bathroom floors.
• Supervises supply inventory by documenting supplies and equipment used and/or needed and submitting requests for supply replenishment.
• Assist with facility maintenance by reporting facility maintenance needs.
