Job summary

The City of DeSoto is seeking a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Aide to clean and maintain city facilities. Your duties include routine cleaning, stocking supplies, and related maintenance tasks to support a safe and welcoming public environment.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, restrooms, and high-touch areas; managing inventory and submitting replenishment requests; and assisting with periodic maintenance tasks such as floor care and carpet cleaning. A High School diploma is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of facility maintenance methods, materials, and safety practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, public, and officials.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of municipal facilities by mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, wiping glass, and sorting trash/recycling.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, restock supplies.
• Perform periodic maintenance such as dust removal, stripping/waxing floors, carpet cleaning.
• Manage and document supplies, submit replenishment requests.
• Assist with facility maintenance by reporting needs.

The purpose of the position is to clean and maintain City of DeSoto facilities. This is accomplished by completing routine cleaning, stocking and managing supply inventory, and related maintenance tasks.

• Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of municipal facilities by ensuring all floors are mopped, swept, and vacuumed; wiping all glass surfaces and windows in high traffic areas; and removal and sorting of all trash and recycling items from assigned work spaces.
• Cleans all restrooms by cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces; cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures; and restocking facility supplies.
• Completes periodic maintenance by completing tasks such as scheduled dust removal on all surfaces in assigned areas; stripping and waxing of hard surface flooring; shampooing of all high traffic carpet surfaces; and cleaning of bathroom floors.
• Supervises supply inventory by documenting supplies and equipment used and/or needed and submitting requests for supply replenishment.
• Assist with facility maintenance by reporting facility maintenance needs.

• Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used in facility maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear and procedures.
