Job summary

The City of DeSoto is seeking a dedicated facilities custodian to clean and maintain municipal facilities. Duties include routine cleaning, stocking and managing supplies, and related maintenance tasks.

Required knowledge of facility maintenance methods and safety procedures, plus strong verbal and written communication. Benefits include health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Responsibilities

The purpose of the position is to clean and maintain City of DeSoto facilities. This is accomplished by completing routine cleaning, stocking and managing supply inventory, and related maintenance tasks.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintains the upkeep and cleanliness of municipal facilities by ensuring all floors are mopped, swept, and vacuumed; wiping all glass surfaces and windows in high traffic areas; and removal and sorting of all trash and recycling items from assigned work spaces.


• Cleans all restrooms by cleaning and sanitizing all surfaces; cleaning and disinfecting restroom fixtures; and restocking facility supplies.


• Completes periodic maintenance by completing tasks such as scheduled dust removal on all surfaces in assigned areas; stripping and waxing of hard surface flooring; shampooing of all high traffic carpet surfaces; and cleaning of bathroom floors.


• Supervises supply inventory by documenting supplies and equipment used and/or needed and submitting requests for supply replenishment.


• Assist with facility maintenance by reporting facility maintenance needs.
