Job summary

Maitri Medicinals is seeking a Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of its facilities and surrounding grounds in Pittsburgh. The role supports a safe, professional environment for employees and visitors, performing a range of cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must be proficient with basic computer software including Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the facility, including offices, restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, and hallways.
  • Maintain laundry operations and manage linens and towels as needed.

Summary of the Role

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of Maitri's facilities and surrounding grounds. This role ensures that both interior and exterior areas remain clean, orderly, safe, and well‑maintained for employees, visitors, and guests.

The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks to support a safe and professional environment. Responsibilities include maintaining building interiors and exterior grounds, identifying and reporting maintenance concerns, and ensuring all assigned areas meet company standards for cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general cleaning and janitorial duties throughout the facility, including offices, conference rooms, restrooms, breakrooms, locker rooms, scrub rooms, changing rooms, laundry rooms, shoe corridors, hallways, and stairwells.
  • Maintain laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens, towels, scrubs, and other laundry items by color, size, and material.
  • Clean and maintain laundry room equipment and work areas to ensure proper sanitation and functionality.
  • Service, clean, sanitize, and restock restroom facilities.
  • Monitor cleaning supply inventory levels and notify management when replenishment is needed.
  • Clean and maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, polishing, and vacuuming.
  • Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and waste materials in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow established procedures for the safe handling and use of chemical cleaners, disinfectants, and power equipment to prevent injury and property damage.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water, detergents, and other approved cleaning agents according to manufacturer and company specifications.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, mirrors, and other surfaces using appropriate cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Submit facility maintenance requests and notify management of any repairs or building maintenance concerns.
  • Request supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to perform cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, walls, machinery, and equipment to maintain a clean and professional environment.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies manually or with the use of carts, dollies, or hand trucks as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety, sanitation, security, and operational procedures.
  • Support special cleaning projects, facility preparations, and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must comply with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre‑employment background check.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly.
  • Flexible schedule availability including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, squat, bend, and kneel repetitively throughout a workday.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in and around a cultivation and plant‑processing environment on a regular basis, with exposure to live plants, pollen, dust, and other naturally occurring plant‑related materials.
  • Work may be dirty/sticky and may leave you smelling like cannabis at the end of the day.
  • Work will be in a warehouse setting: temperatures may vary from warm to cool.
  • Work environments may include exposure to fumes, dust, odors, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, and noise.
