Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, safe facilities, including locker rooms, floors, and general custodial areas. Nights and weekends are required to align with member needs.

You will work with a supportive team, receive training, and enjoy YMCA member perks such as free access to branches. The role supports the Y's mission to strengthen the community.

This is a full-time, on-site position with opportunities to grow within a nonprofit organization.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize walls, floors, furniture, equipment using proper supplies and label instructions.
• Set up and break down equipment; ensure program equipment is clean, sanitized and in good working order.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and maintain safety of all members, participants, guests and staff.
• Maintain closets and shop areas in neat, organized, and safe condition with all supplies and chemicals labeled.

What is needed for this:

• 18 years of age with a high school or technical school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment.

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

• Clean and sanitize walls, floors, furniture, equipment utilizing the proper supplies and in accordance with product label instructions. Vacuum, sweep, dust all areas, furniture, light fixtures, and other equipment. Routinely monitor trash and dispose in accordance with procedures.
• Set up and break down equipment as needed. Ensure all equipment for member programs is clean, sanitized and in good working order.
• Respond promptly to all emergency situations as well as maintain the safety of all members, program participants, guests, and staff.
• Maintain closets and shop areas in neat, organized, and safe condition with all supplies and chemicals properly labeled.
