Job summary

Northeast Community College is seeking a full-time Custodian on the Norfolk Campus to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, staff and administrators.

Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms and public areas, performing minor repairs, and reporting maintenance issues. The role requires some weekend/holiday coverage with hours Monday-Friday 1:00 pm-10:00 pm. Training and alignment with the college mission are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Education: Willingness to be trained and aligns with the College’s mission, vision and values.
• Experience: Requires some cleaning knowledge and the ability to read and understand product labels.
• Skills: Requires excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and the ability to work successfully with students and other employees. Valid Drivers license required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, dust and vacuum classrooms, offices, halls, restrooms, windows, corridors and other public areas.
• Perform minor repairs and report maintenance issues to the appropriate directors.
• Pick up supplies from the warehouse and deliver to buildings; pick up trash.
• Perform routine maintenance; maintain assigned areas clean, orderly and attractive.

Job description

Northeast Community College is seeking a full-time Custodian on the Norfolk Campus.

The purpose of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for students, faculty, staff and administrators. This is accomplished by sweeping, mopping, dusting and vacuuming classrooms, offices, halls, restrooms, windows, corridors, and other public areas, making minor repairs, and reporting maintenance issues in the buildings. Other duties include picking up supplies from warehouse and delivering to buildings, picking up trash, and performing routine maintenance. Maintains assigned area(s) in a clean, orderly and attractive manner and performs related work as assigned by the Director of Custodial Services Norfolk, and the Director of Physical Plant Norfolk. Some weekends and holidays required. The work hours for this position are Monday-Friday 1:00 pm-10:00 pm These hours are subject to change.

Special Instructions to Applicants: This job requires occasional overtime to assist with coverage at extra events taking place on campus. This position will remain open until filled.
